RED LIONS
Polokwane United Football Club was founded in 2012 by Bally Smart. The club participated in the POLFA league in the 2012-13 season finishing 2nd and narrowly missing out on the play-offs. During the 2013-14 season, the club relocated to Mannini, Thohoyandou and purchased the SAB Castle League status of Makwarela Development to build upon the progress made from Polokwane.
After some impressive performances in the ever competitive SAB League Vhembe (SAFA 3rd Division) with a very young team which included the likes of Kgaogelo Sekgota, Bally Smart then decided to buy the ABC Motsepe League (SAFA 2nd Division) status of Rospa United FC for the 2014-15 season.
The club finished 12th in their maiden season, 11th in the 2015-16 season, 9th in the 2016-17 season, 4th in the 2017-18 season and 2nd in the 2018-19. Thus improving the league position on every season involved in the ABC Motsepe League (SAFA 2nd Division)
The safety of our fans and supporters is very important to us and we pride ourselves as a family friendly club.
